So, I am a navy wife with two small children (2 and 3 years old). My family is 1100 miles away from me. My best friends are at least 700 miles away. I haven't made any friends here, yet.

I said all of that to say this, I had an accident yesterday. While my husband was at work I fell down the stairs. Long story short? I broke my left foot and right ankle. I can't walk at ALL! The ER doctor said I will have to use a wheelchair for 5-6 weeks.

The problem? My mom is in her 70's and even if she traveled all the way here I don't think she could really handle my kids. One of my BFF's just had a baby, the other is taking summer college courses. My Inlaws don't like me and I am all alone.

I have no idea what to do!

Get in touch with your command Ombudsman, they will help get you some help. Where are you stationed and what is his command. YYou can PM me if you like.

I agree - you need to talk to your Ombudsman and your FRG. I"m guessing your dh is deployed. Is there any way that you could maybe go home for awhile, because that way, instead of one person flying out and being overwhelmed trying to help, all of your friends and family could help a bit...

I'm sorry, I wish I was near enough to help :-(

can your DH take emergency leave? or talk to his command about working 1/2 days for the next few weeks.

go to the chaplain and ask for assistance, call tricare to see if you qualify for assistance with child care and nursing care.

Talk to your ombudsman. They can probably set up a meal train for you. And ask around or go online and hire someone like a sitter to come help you around the house a couple hours a day.

Talk to FRG or whatever Navy calls it. See if they can help. Honestly you would be suprised what you can do when you put your mind to it. I was on crutches with a broken foot just out of surgery when my husband deployed. Granted yes I still had 1 good foot. I just talked to my kids who were 4 and 1 1/2 and told them mommy needs all the help you can give her. They ate a lot of chicken nuggets and frys because it was easy to just slide in the oven. My 4 yr old helped take his sister her plate and he would also take my plate for me. It sucks and hope you get better soon!
