Does the military have to move you or can you do a dity? Not us, for a friend :)

We are in Hawaii which is considered OCONUS. We let the military do it. Not sure if you can Dity. I would be wary about it just based on the costs of shipping your household goods and car. :)

Never heard of anyone ever doing a DITY overseas.  (ie, to and from an overseas location)  While overseas, that's a different story (moving on base to off base, etc...)

I don't see how that would work without being VERY expensive.

I didn't think DItY was an option unless you were staying stateside.

I could see possibly doing a DITY to Alaska, but I never would. I think it would end up being really expensive.

I knew someone who did a city from Hawaii. They "rented" one of those large containers from Matson. Packed it and had Matson come pick it up and ship it..said it cost them a couple thousand for the whole thing, but they made bank on their DITY money when they turned in all their paperwork.? So, in essence it is very possible. Also, POD
s work too...

We're pcs-ing to Hawaii in September! Where are you stationed at? We'll be at K-bay.

Schofield Barracks. :) We have been here for over three years now. Very pretty island.
