So I want to invite some ladies from my neighborhood we are all sorta friends with each other.  My family never really did friend entertaining, just family and they all helped out.   So I know to have food, but any and all suggestions would be appreciated.  I am not sure how to do this, when I have in the past it was a flop.

What are you going to do?  What are you inviting them over for?

What are you hosting? Dinner? Dessert? Cocktails?

Everything goes better with booze.

Food, if it's a bbq you can have games (boche ball (sp?), beer pong, horse shoes, ect) Lots of drinks! And make sure you make the rounds and converse with everyone. I guess that's about it- people have the most fun when they can laugh!

Board games (as cheesy as it sounds) can lighten things up too!

That's true. Board games after some drinks are both fun & hilarious.

We always used to do a BBQ. We supplied meat and beans. Others were more than welcome to bring whatever they wanted. Usually did BYOB too.

For some reason events like that go better if you supply the drinks, people love free booze! Just make sure to provide plenty of soft drinks for the non-drinkers and kids. ;)

I am looking at moms night in. Just to have the moms over to have some fun.
It would have to BYOB cuase I am a feather weight. It would be like 7-8 pm after my kids and most of there are in bed. So my thought of having card games isn't terrible.
Wine tasting and fondue sound like fun.

What would be good munchies? I wanted to do something simple but nicer then just chips and dip.

Any tips on small talk? I suck, more of a listener then talker in groups.
