Today was such a mixed bag. We found out some good news regarding a substantial fraudulent debt on my husband's record that we have been trying to fight for around six months, now. It was finally removed today. That drastically improves the level of security clearance he is approved for, which will open up more jobs.
However, we also found out that the VA Medical Clinic Release of Information Office will not accept the general release form that my husband signed for his recruiter, giving her access to all of his records. Instead, we had to print their specific form off from their website, sign, and mail it. They will then take around 20 business days to comply with the request for release of information request and then mail the needed medical forms to the recruiter.
This, in and of itself is understandable. They do not accept anything but original signatures to release medical records. I understand why. It's just extremely frustrating. It will now take around a month, just to get a few pages of records regarding my husband's knee surgeries from 2007, just so his packet can be looked at again and hopefully finally approved.
Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.....We are growing very discouraged. I was looking back and realized we started this process all the way back in February this year. It's sort of our new way of life: Check in with the recruiter every other day, call the VA or a school or a reference on the days we don't call the recruiter. It's daunting. I would like to be done now.
