tricare/ open enrollment in reserves

I came off active duty to reserves and never enrolled for insurance (big mistake), well I just found out I have pectus excavatum (sunken chest). According to tricare it would be covered due to it causing me heart and lung problems. Problem is it is a no go in terms of staying in the military so I'm wondering if I would have time to get tricare so they can cover the surgery.

I thought you could sign up for reserve select at any time? Idk...

call tricare, I believe you can enroll anytme, but there will be a 30 day wait period and you will pay out of pocket for coverage, tricare reserves is like standard so you will also have some out of pocket costs.

When you sign up your coverage should start on the first of the next month.
