I just checked for my sister (BIL is E-5) and his went up a whopping $3 to $993. Twenty-nine Palms has to be one of the lowest rates out there. Anyone else know of any bases/posts where BAH is ridiculously low like that?

I know it's not a base but for those E-5s with no dependents stationed at recruiting stations and MEPS back near my hometown only get ~$700. With dependents, it's $1000.

Where we will be going next ours will be over 3g. Another place we could be going is almost half that amount.

here at Kings bay for an E5 the new rate is about 985, but apt and duplex rentals are only about 650-800 a month.

The new BAH rate here is a lot better, but it's still $42 less than what we get (2010 rate).

It dropped $70 here. And, of course, COL has gone up a lot. I would love to know who decides the BAH rates and what goes through their minds.

Take a look at the bah rates for the Pentagon, that should give you an idea.

Here for an E5 without dependents it is $969 and was unchanged from 2012 to 2013, with dependents it went from $1146 to $1188.

WOW!! I am SOOOOOO GLAD my DH listened to me and got the HELL OUT of the Army after his enlistment ended back in 1998!!! Of course, I gave him an ultimatum--he either got OUT when his enlistment was up, or else he could stay IN WITHOUT ME b/c I told him I would serve him with divorce papers if he re-enlisted!
