Tri-Care help!! AND RANT!!!!

Is anyone else on tri-care prime remote??  Hubby is recruiting and that is what we have to use.  It has been nothing but a headache.  I am not sure if it is just the area we are in or what. But it has come to down to a bunch of incompetant people.  I have to have surgery on my foot.  I finally get into a specialist and come to find out the referal was never processed.  My primary care and the specialist are both complaining about tri-care being the problem.  Tri-cares approved list of providers is outdated and it is so hard in my area to find the list. Come to find out my specialist isn't on the in network list anymore, but tri-care wasn't able to provide me witha specialist that was! The specialists office called tri-care about everything while I was there and I ended up on the phone with them and went off! I guess I was lucky that there weren't any other pt in the office at the time.  I can't hardly walk or drive right now.  I can't even carry a basket of laundry up stairs let alone work.  I need this fixed ASAP and tri-care wants to drag their asses on it.  Everyone is placing the blame else where. I just want this problem fixed.  I would go through VA but they take even longer to deal with, and seeing I just moved I am having to start all over again with VA who is 9 months backlogged here!  How do you all deal with them if you are on remote???  I am about ready to switch back to martins point!!!

you could go tricare standard- there are out of pocket cost shares but no referrals are ever needed.

I couldn't afford any out of pocket cost and they told us the only thing we could have is tri-care prime remote here

Sorry no help here I haven't had to deal with any of that. Have you tried calling tricare?

Hope you can get it figured out!

Oh yes.  I have a very interesting talk with tri-care that will resume tomorrow.  I told them I am going to go to the ER every day because they will pay that bill, or maybe I should just shoot myself in the foot because I will finally get that surgery I have been going through hoops for 7 years now to get, that they will pay for along with the happy pills I will probably be put on after shooting my foot, and the extended stay in the psyc ward that I will also probably get.  I can be quite sarcastic at times!  The nurse and receptionist in the specialists office were laughing, the lady from tri-care I don't think found the humor in it...

Were you able to get anywhere with them when you called back?

I just had to deal with switching from Prime to Prime Remote. It was a mess! I was 34 weeks pregnant trying to get set up so I could see a new PCM to get a referal to OB/GYN. No one locally seemed to understand what Prime Remote was...Finally, it all fell into place. We had Prime Remote a few years ago in a different location and everything was awesome. There were never any issues. This time was awful. For a while I thought I might just have to wait until I go into labor then proceed to an ER to have a c-section. I don't really have any advice, just hope you can get things worked out.

I am.  Headache for me, too.  I had to have heart surgery, DH was getting medical leave for it. . . My referral for my surgery wasn't processed until two days before.  I wasn't sure if I was getting it or not.  I was PASSING OUT, and was the only parent here.  I even went into AFIB once.  They didnt care.  I had to no shit get my husband's command involved and I called tricare EVERY STINKING DAY.

All i can say is keep on them.  Do everything you can.  Get anyone and everyone involved that can help.

They messed with my pregnancy, too.  I got a referral, and although the OB I wanted to go to accepted tricare, they wouldn't refer me to them.  They wanted me to go to an oB 30 miles away, instead of right around the corner.  Um, NO.  I am not driving myself to the hospital while in labor for 30 minutes.  Tricare told me to get a new pcm, and it was a MONTH before Icould get into them to take ANOTHER pregnancy test to get referred to a different OB.  That doesnt even make SENSE>  I would have been 3 months along before i even got OB care!!

i really dislike prime remote.  Hate it hate it hate it.

Good luck though.  Just be a pain in their ass until someone works for you.  No joke I was on the phone talking to supervisors for HOURS.  They finally got tired of me calling and moved their asses.  I got my surgery.  I hope you get yours, too.

I ended up getting ahold of the rep for our area!! She is great and all over it! They wouldn't let me see the doctor I wanted even though they took tricare  they said they weren't in the network.  The doctor I have to see is 30+ min away. I go on the 27th.  My husband now has to take time off from work to go with me.  Oh well.  I am going to switch back to US Family Health Plan after this apt.  I had much better luck with them in the past.  I just want to get this taken care of first.  Plus they have a provider that is right around the corner from me.  Thank you everyone for the support!
