I do pot roast, chicken and turkey all the same way... It can eve be done if the meat is still partially frozen or completely with an adjustment of time. I usually do it partially frozen and cook it for 8 hours and it's great.

Fill it an inch high with broth(to match the meat cooking).

A teaspoon of onion powder

A half teaspoon of garlic powder

A teaspoon of oregano flakes

1-2 bay leaves

A half cap to whole cap(about a tablespoon to two) of dried chopped onion.

Stir it into the broth then add about two cups of mixed veggies or more as needed/wanted.

Place meat on top and sprinkle with salt and pepper lightly.

Ribs- thaw and cook for 6-8 hours... It is easy to eat after 6 but is fall apart good by 7-8 hours.

A medium to large purple onion sliced and rings pulled apart.

A big bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce.

Cut the ribs into 4 rib sections or whatever will fit best in your crock.

Do a layer of onion on bottom with just a little sauce.

Put a layer if ribs in and cover in sauce and onions and repeat until all the ribs are coated in sauce and layered with onion.

Put remaining onion on too and around side of ribs.

I do this recipe for chili... It's just a little involved for prep but not enough to make it hard or anything, and it is SO delicious! This is Debbie's Crock Pot Chili recipe: http://www.food.com/recipe/debbies-crock-pot-chili-45069

There's also a crock pot cooking group on here that is great for recipes!
