Military Medical Advice

My son is an active duty marine. He was told four weeks ago by the base doctor that he had a tumor in his tibia and needed to see an oncologist. He is having trouble getting an appointment/referral. I am obviously concerned that this is not being handled in an appropriate manner. Any suggestions on how to expedite this process?

It's common to get the referral online. Has he checked the Tricare website?

Has he talked to referral management or the patient liaison?

He should be able to call tricare and get the ball rolling. Sometimes getting them involved helps.

How does he find out who his patient liason is? The tricare idea is good. I will def share that with him.

He has to take charge. Not sure how it works in his command but be needs to figure it out and take it up the chain of command if needed.

There is usually only one or 2, he just needs to go to his clinic and ask.
