Quoting sahmw2010: Ummm.z what was a proxy marriage again? Ive heard of it but drawing a blank. So no i have not dealt with it
They don't work. For benefits, citizenship and even recognizing a baby once it's born should anything happen to the father, they don't work. Why not just get together and get married?
Never with a good outcome.
I have a very good friend who did this- the member was stationed in Bahrain and was getting overseas orders and they needed her to be on the orders before they were issued-
she had the paperwork all done and had a friend stand up for her Fiance- it was a 5 minute ceremony, she was in DEERS and had an ID card a week later an month later he got orders to guam.
that was 3 years ago and they are happily married and expecting thier first child.
