Military housing does NOT mean your kids are safe - PSA of the day

Don't fall for the illusion.  Your kids are no safer within the gates than outside of them.  Contractors, people sponsored on base, disgruntled civilian employees or even other military personnel - bad people come in all forms.

Be diligent.

Be safe.

I never understood why people feel safer on post.

Exactly! We just had an instance of a strange person who is off base talking to and taking pictures of the kids on base through the fence at night time... I don't get why those kids were out that late by themselves, or why they thought it was okay to talk to this strange man, much less letting him take their picture. I've had random kids come to my door asking to come inside and play... Not a kid we knew... Just a random kid from our tower. My kids would be in deep shit for either of those examples.

I agree!! We live onbase & there is no gate around the base. Anyone can come in. But I see little kids all the time walking around alone. Creeps are everywhere! It's your job as a parent to watch your kids. Just cause you live onbase or post doesn't mean to set your kids free. Drives me nuts. It takes 1second for your child to be picked up & you'd have no idea.
Thanks for posting!

We have had several instances of attempted child abductions here. My children do not go out by themselves.

Agreed. I'd rather be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to my children.

There are registered sex offenders living on Fort Riley. Plus, with all the shootings and weirdos out there, you really can never be too safe.
