I am thinking of finding a furnished apt instead of hotel during transition. Does anyone have experience with them and is it cheaper than a hotel?

like for a PCS? I am not sure what kind of "transistion" your asking about.

I have not used furnished apts for PCS, but maybe someone on here has.

We closed on our house 2 months before we could fly out to Germany. We shipped all of our HHG out early and rented a furnished apartment. It was expensive, but a lot cheaper than a hotel. Plus, we had 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and a garage. The apartment was all inclusive and saved us about $1000/month over a hotel, plus we had more space.

Exactly the answer I am looking for. I wish I would have thought of this with all of our PCS moves!! ;-)

My sister rented an apartment when she was in San Fran for work for a week. She did that over a hotel so that they could have a real kitchen, and it was cheaper in the end as well.

I agree with these ladies...I would go with a furnished apartment.  Good luck!

just a note- when you ETS you do not get TLE or DLA.

how much terminal leave will you have?

She's not going to ETS. This is the same woman that you told was crazy for getting out for her kids.

I have zero experience with your question but the ladies that sound like they know what they're talking about. So are you going to stay in NC?
