Since we moved to Germany, there are a lot of things that I miss from the states. There are also many thing that I know I will miss when we move back to the states eventually. We have been here for a year and have another 3 years, I think. We still aren't sure what's up with my dh's job situation here.

Things I miss:
School options for my children 😒
Having non-military friends, or atleast friends
from a different installation. These bitches are
crazy.
Target
Sonic
A spray gun in my kitchen sink
Normal toilet flushers
Stores being open on Sunday
Free refills at restaurants
A normal sized kitchen sink
A normal sized refrigerator (the military will give
us one, but we don't need it. It's just a comfort
thing. I honestly don't know how I used to fill
one.)
Being able to get cheap gas other places than
Esso or On post.
A normal sized washer, dryer, and dishwasher.
Do you see a theme here?

Things I will miss:
Rolladens. America get on this!
The people of Europe
The culture
The travel
Beer and wine is cheaper than soda at many
Restaurants
Schnitzel
The food quality at the local grocery stores
Going to France or Luxembourg to go grocery
Shopping if I can't find what I need here.
The size of the house I can get for our OHA.
The markets. There are seasonal markets for
Everything.
The pride the locals take in their homes and
surroundings for the most part. You can
almost pick the American's houses out in my
Neighborhood just by looking.
The windows. They are different. I like them.

There is much more, but I'm only on my first cup of coffee.

Good idea...love reading this!

We've lived in Virginia for over 7 years, so I don't have much to compare it to on a recent level.  We did live in Hawaii for 3 years, and I do miss things about that place...the beautiful weather year round for sure!

I know we're not stationed here, but I miss In N Out. CO needs to get with it and make one here finally. I've lived here over ten years, and still none are here, lol.

Ft Campbell: 4 seasons, the amount of family activities, camping in the woods, the easier travel to see family

Ft Bliss: the PX, no snow, the MWR family events (the ones here SUCK), no FRG for my husband's unit, the amount of activities close to/ in El Paso,

Sounds like everything you have is tiny...appliances and all.  What about your washing machine/dryer?

Other things I miss from CA; good Mexican and Chinese food, the coast, and people that will drive when it rains. It seems like in CO when it rains, people think the world is ending or something. People won't go over 20 mph.

So, I don't really miss life in the States, but I miss done comfort things:

Normal sized washer and drier (and a drier that dries!)
Central heat and a/c
A lot of restaurants- and being able to eat out for less than 100$
Delivery food of any kind. I miss ordering pizza so much :(
Normal shopping- or a regular sized commissary

Things I miss in Spain:

Cost of living
Year round warmth
The culture/people
Café con leche

What I love about Norway:

My kids quality of life is incredible. Awesome school and for the most part it's incredibly safe.
It's stunningly beautiful here.
Public transport is great. If I never wanted to drive anywhere I wouldn't need to
Traveling Europe (this is true for our last 2 bases) I've been able to see some amazing things.
We are stationed at a NATO base, so we are around people from all over the world. I love the diversity.

Is it terrible that I don't miss one darn thing about Holloman AFB? I can't think of a single thing from that base that I miss! I do miss some of my friends I had in town there but I still talk to them via FB and 2 of them have already moved anyway...now here at Lackland I will miss TONS of stuff when we have to PCS out of here next April. Then I will probably have quite the list.
