I had a baby on oct 23 and lately I have noticed that I am having heart palpitations. I notice them all day long. Things will be normal then 'bump' my heart goes thump, then normal again. This happens many times in an hour. However it freaks me out a bit. I am going for my post baby check on monday and I wil bring it up. Part of me feels like this is important to mention, and another part is saying you're fine, just paranoid and you are adjusting to not being preg anymore. I will still bring it up but I am nervous.

Welcome to the group. Congrats on your little one. Always mention any thing that is different, no matter how small.
OK, when you are pregnant, your body produces more blood. With more blood there is more work for your heart muscles and more pressure on the vains and arteries. After you have your baby your body has got to go back to the way it was. Now it does take time for your body to go into reverse and it depends on each person. If this is your first, keep in mind you are not getting enough sleep. When you don't sleep deep enough your body does not heal, and you will have problems. Also, there is anxiety that comes and hormones are changing.
Now, with palpitations, if you are not getting any dizziness, confusion, water retention, if you are out of breath, or if you had these when you were pregnant and they get worse, call the doctor on call or go to the ER.
And the most important thing that I can not stress enough is that if you feel that something is wrong go get it looked at right away. That is what saved my life, because if I would have waited one hour more on either time, I would not have made it or had serious brain damage.
Do not worry. I know that it is hard to feel like that and wonder if your gonna drop dead, but worring only makes you feel worse.

She's right, get it looked at. I thought the same thing, maybe it's nothing. But I wasn't breathing right, I was seeing stars from the dizziness, my legs and feet were swollen and I caught it before it got too bad. It never hurts to get it looked at. Keep a diart of when it happens and how you feel. That will let the doc get a visual of what's going on and help him determine whether or not it needs checking out. My doc had me do that and that's how decided it wasn't just "one of those things". Good luck and congrats on the baby!!! Let us know how everything goes!! =)
