Anyone diong any traveling during the holiday season? We are heading out tonight to my in laws house in ohio- its about 6 hours away. I'm dreading it because Alexia absolutely HATES the car. A couple of times I have had to just let her cry back there, and i assumed after a fwe minutes she would pass out.. wrong. on a 45 minute drive she screamed the WHOLE way. We are leaving after the girls are asleep, so hopefully they will BOTH sleep the whole way. We are supposed to goto my mom's in GA for christmas- its a 10 hour drive. But if lexie doesn't do well then we are saying forget it. lol

Not this year. We're going to stay in AZ. We are heading home in February or March so my husband can see his family before he deploys. Then me and kiddies are heading back in April to stay until he comes back. Boy do I hate 6 month deployments.
where is home for you guys? Our first deployment was 15 months long. Dh didnt even get to meet our daughter until she was 6 months old and he came home for R&R. we were stationed in germany at the time, so i went home over the deployment. didnt want to have my baby alone in a foreign country.

I wont be traveling this year even if i did my mom lives just a hour away on cape cod but we wont be seeing her thanksgiving we are going to go down to her house Christmas eve for a few days though. My dad and his family live in TX and TN but i have never met them just talk to them on my space. And we currently live with my bf's mom so no traveling necessary
We're staying home for Thanksgiving. I'm not keen on putting my 6 week old on a plane during flu season to go visit my family down in California, and up in Washinton where my husband's family is, Thanksgiving is a zoo (40+ people), again, not wanting her to be subject to that so young and during flu season. We'll be driving the 5 hours up north for Christmas though.
If your baby hates the car, you might see about getting a different carseat. I have a niece and nephew both who HATED the carseat my sister got, but liked the one that granny (my mom) had, so they traded, since the kids would be in granny's car less, and that equaled happy babies (traded for the first one, because nephew hated it, then traded back for the 2nd one because niece hated the one that he had liked, lol.

the thing is, she doesnt mind the carseat. shes fine whe we put her in it, she just screams as soon as we put it in the car. when we get to the store and i put her in the shopping cart, still in the carseat, shes fine. until we get back in the car.. lol

Sort of.... all of our families live within about a half hour of our house....just in opposite directions! So to avoid too much running thursday, we're spending the night at my in-laws house so we can see them a while, then we'll get to visit with my grandma and all that side of the family. My other grandma had her dinner this past weekend (again, about a half hour away from home). Doesn't seem like it'll be too stressful this way.
My husband works retail though, so we have to be home early so he can get to bed and be at work at 4 am for all you crazy black friday shoppers :)
Thankfully most of our family is local. Everyone came here for Thanksgiving yesterday and for Christmas we are splitting between our house and my Mom's (she only lives 30 minutes away). We go to my husband's aunts for christmas with his family for the weekend before christmas too but that's only 30 minutes away as well. My Dad lives in Georgia now but we don't spend holidays together.
My husband's Dad lives in Virginia and we go down there once a year but not for the holidays, usually in the spring. We've brought DS down there every year starting when he was 3 months. It's a 10 hour drive but he did fine. I'm hoping DD will do just as well when we go down this spring. We'll see!
