Hi Ladies,

I was wondering when you all plan on getting your LO's ear pierced or if you do or if you have already. I think I'm going to hold off piercing DD's until she's around 5-6. That's when I remember getting mine done.

In my experience not till they are 14/15 maybe 16 !!

I got mine done when I was 8 my mom told me that I would have to take care of them that ended up bad my skin grew over the back of the earing because I never took care of it and they got terribly infected and had to go to the doctor to get the earing removed . Didn't get them done again till I was 13.

Same thing happened to my sister but she was 6 and she didn't get her's done again till she was 16.

I dont' want to have to deal with that !!

I just got Chloe's done (my 2yo) a few months ago....i think that's too old really. we got one done and she wouldn't let us do the other so we had to buy the do it at home thing and do the other one later! she has them both now tho and keeps them clean herself (i help) and they've not ever even been red

i'm thinking w/claire (my oct baby) we'll do it before 18 mos. not much sooner tho bc i want her ears to be bigger

I wont do either of my daughters ears until i feel like they are capable of really taking care of them themselves. I got mine done around age 7 and i had a bad experience with the skin growing over the back and stuff. I never got mine done again.

Kayla will have her ears pierced at 4 months...according to my mom, that's when she got mine and my sisters pierced.

I'm torn. I kind of want to do them when she's little so she won't remember, can't refuse the second hole and also because I think little one's with earrings are so cute. But, I'm afraid it's going to bother her when she sleeps and also with the cleaning it and everything. I remember having mine done when I was 5-6. I was fine with it, never had infections or problems so I was thinking of waiting til then too. Hmm, guess I'll have to think about it some more.

im torn too. I really dont want to get hers done until shes 6. That was always the thing in our family. you got your ears peirced for your 6th birthday. but now im starting to regreat not getting my 2 year olds ears done, ONLY because she sees me wearing then and says how pretty they are, and she will find earrings on my dresser or what not and try so hard to make them stick to her ears like they do to mine. lol.

Im pretty sure we still wont get them done until she's older though

I was thinking around 6-8 months.  I have heard from several people that doing them earlier keeps them from messing with them as much (cause they are just used to them always being there) - which keeps them from getting infected.

With my oldest daughter (she's 2), I think I got her ears pierced when she was either 4 months old or 6 months old, but I wana say 4 lol. My mom got my ears pierced when I was a baby and sh said she had no problem taking care of my earrings and I never bothered with them. With my oldest, she never messed with her earrings, they never got infected, and they didnt bother her while she slept. So with my youngest daughter I plan on getting her ears pierced around the same time.
