My son Blaine is 9 and every 3 months or even sooner when he gets a cold it always goes to his chest and having a coughing fit for about 2 weeks, does anyone else have this problem, is there anything I can do to prevent it? and what medications work best for your child? or antibiotic? Im really curious and concerned, am I alone?

Gosh I am not looking forward to Cold season either! This is our first "bout" of it since Skyelr was re trached in Feb. We moved in May to a brand new hosue so all respitory issues resolved there cause of no MOLD WOO HOO! BUT...this past wekk...man o man have the secretions been in full force. I had forgotten how often hes needed suctioning. ( he had been decannulated for 2.5 years before retraching) oh how we forget.
I am takking skyler in tomorrow if hes not gotten any better. I notice things arent good when hes flush, and green boogies...and the seal bark. (not that that makes any diff with a trach...it kinda all sounds "bad") In the past skyler has dealt with a bit fo staph in his trach (colinized) and also  hospitalized for pseudimonis...cant spell it. BUt normally its just a virus that hits him differnetly cause of the open airway.

SIGH..i wish we all didnt have to deal with it all this way. Cant we just have sniffly runny noses?
Hope he feels better
Casie
