So this Jan 1st, we switched over to new insurance due to my son exhausted his medical insurance maximum. The new home care supllier we use does not carry the Fisher Prykel humidefier we are so so so ever so used to (6years and counting...) Skyler NEVER plugged because he was always so nice and moist. So they gave us this "contraption" we have our cmpressor, hooked up to this thingy connected to a Sterile water bottle..with a warmer thing ontop of it. Can you say...CHEAP!?! not only does it look ridiculous, Skylers room gets up to 80degrees in there (we have to keep the door shut due to his wondering at night deal) but th epast 3 days we have used it he has been blocked completly. Luckily hes not criticle and does have some air movement past his trach. but he gets horrible rest this way.
So my question, Who else uses this who likes it and how can i make 'due' with it.
THe RT tells me no one else ever complains of dryness.??I have a hard time believeing this.
Thanks in advance you guys

Bump.. please guys, I know I can count on you as a group for some insite, I cant really ask any other groups, if ya know what i am sayin :P

Hi,
We had the same problem with the humidifier.I called so many times the supplies company, but they kept saying that there is nothing wrong with it. Nicole sleeps only with HME and just a regular room cool mist humidifier. There are night when I have to suction her at night, but most of the time she is fine. I wish I can help you,but...
Is your supplies company Caremax?
I 100% agree with the saline treatment with CPT. We do it for Serenity every night in the middle of the night. We had a RT tell us that they've done studies that it doesn't do much. So we stopped doing the neb, but did the CPT, and she was in the hospital 3 days later!

I would try to use a room humifdifier too. You can also try to do a saline nebulizer before and after bed. I do this for Addisyn when she is dry.
