I have had GD twice with both my pregnancies...never was able to really control it with diet and with the last one (12/2/08) I had to take a pill in the morning.
My question is: Has anyone developed diabetes after giving birth? Insulin controlled?
Well you are at greater risk for developing Type 2 diabetes, but that is especially true if you are overweight. I have a strong family history of Type 2 diabetes, my dad is on insulin for it, my sister on oral meds and many aunts and uncles have it as well. Currently I am a very healthy 109 lbs and strive to stay that way. My sugars are monitored on a yearly basis b/c of the family history and my 2 GD pregnancies, but my doctor is confident that as long as I take care of myself and stay healthy it will not be a problem for me :)

Not for me but I also dont have any history of it in the family and Im not overweight, but their is a chance of it later in life.
