I am not a big fan of eggs (especially when pregnant..the smell of them...you get the picture) and I am guessing cereals and bagels are out (I am new to this....just got my 3 hr glucose results last week and they were high). Any suggestions for breakfast foods? I meet with a nurse about GD this coming week but was hoping for some ideas sooner...thanks

Try some of the frozen Jimmy Dean breakfast foods. READ the lables and look for the lost carb count. They can be spendy, but... if you can't eat eggs they might be your best option. Also... don't be concerned about eating "Breakfast food" at breakfast time. If you hate eggs, but need protien why not eat a chicken breast or even a burger patty. It doesn't matter that it's not breakfast food.

I'm not really an eggs person for breakfast either I just don't care to take that much time in the morning. I will normally eat a piece of whole wheat toast with peanut butter and 1 cup of milk. The 1 cup of milk is actually like 1 cup measured out not a glass. Normally I would drink a big glass at this point in my pregnancy but since the whole carbs deal I have to watch how much. If I don't do that then I'll eat original grits and add butter made with water. I'm from the south so grits are good here. I know some people can't stand the idea of them. I've found that those 2 ideas I can actually go back to sleep after eating and it will not raise my sugar. If I don't feel like doing either of those and am going to stay awake then I'll eat the Jimmy Dean mini sausage biscuits. Luckily I haven't really had to change my morning eating habits just having to watch my portions more than anything. Hope this helps you out some.
I am not able to have Milk in the morning. It raised my blood sugar to many times. So I usually eat a PB&J with sugar free jelly, whole grain waffles with sugar free syrup and saugage links or toast or english muffin with peanut butter. Those are my favorite breakfast meals that havent raised my sugar levels. This diet is so hard. it was a lot of trial and error for me to figure out what I loved and could eat and what I couldn'.
Breakfast has been the most difficult meal for me as well. I was so used to eating cereal and fruit, but now that is out of the question. I am not the biggest fan of eggs, but am eating a egg scramble with some veggies in it topped with a little shredded cheese, 2 chicken breakfast sausages. I also have discovered a soy protein powder that I mix with 1 measured cup of milk and some frozen berries, not to many berries though cause they have carbs too. I am getting a little tired of this day after day, and am going to try plain instant oatmeal with a little cinnamon and brown sugar. Good luck.
