If I eat a meal (like whole grain pasta) and watch the portion carbs etc....would it help keep my blood sugar lower if I added a side dish of veggies?(not to replace the main dish..but in addition to???)  I am asking because I had a glass of v8 juice with my meal...and my number seemed lower (109 after an hour....)    I think I've read here that the addition of a protein can make the number lower...but do you think the v8 juice helped.......or do you think my number would have been the same even without the v8? thanks ladies, I am new to this

Our bodies can all react differently, so you can always try a similiar meal without the veggies and see.

BUT most likely it is true especially depending on the veggies involved.  Fiber is a PLUS because it absorbs excess carbs and slows down the rate at which we digest the other carbs, so it's always a good idea to eat high fiber foods, or even take a fiber supplement
