I'm a married mother of one little boy. I was prediabetic (Type 2, lifestyle) prior to my pregnancy and have been seeing diabetic specialists throughout my entire pregnancy. I was induced the day after my due date (it was a Sunday and the doc doesn't work weekends!). I went in at 9am and had Peanut at 10:12pm.

im 20 in august & a sahm & im engaged. with my 1st pregnancy, i had gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma worsened, bed rest with no exercise. i had gained 70 pounds with her. i was induced 5 weeks early, 7 hours of labour @ 7cm, they checked me, she was breech, so i had emergency csection. her cord was around her neck 2 or 3 times & her cord was as small as my iv, thats why i had gained so much weight. she only weighed 4 pounds, 13.6 oz & 18 1/4 inches long. now she is 1 year old & 6 days, she weighs 18 pounds, 15 1/2 oz.
now with my 2nd pregnancy, i have high blood pressure, asthma, bed rest & pretty such i have g. diabetes. i have gained 16 pounds & im 30 weeks.

I'm a married mother of one and I have another on the way. I had my daughter 7 months ago and I had Gestational Diabetes during my pregnancy. I controlled the diabetes with diet and my pregnancy went very well. I found out that I was pregnant again a few weeks ago and I expect to have Gestational Diabetes again in this pregnancy. I'm here to meet other mothers that have GD.

Hi, my name is Beth. I had gestational diabetes for the last four weeks of my first pregnancy, but only knew about it for the last week. I was able to get my sugars under control before the dr. took her by c-section at 38 weeks. I had to have an amnio done to be sure her lungs were ready, and the day after my 10 lb 3 oz baby was born!
Now I'm 14 weeks pregnant with my second baby and I've had gestational diabetes since they tested me at 8 weeks. With diet and exercise, I've been able to manage my sugars after meals, but my fasting sugar in the morning is high. the dr. put me on nph insulin at night, 5 units, but it's not helping as much as i hoped it would! today i have another appointment and he's probably going to raise my insulin level. i don't have any other complications, and i hope to God i don't get any!

Hello.........yeah, I found out I had GD at 30 weeks. I had my 1 hour test and I guess I had a 139. Which all my friends said there cut off was 140 and some of them were very close like me and didn't have to do the 3 hour and were considered clear. My doctor's cut off was 135......errr.....I had to do the 3 hour and of course failed. Not sure what my number were for that one though. For the most part I'm hitting under my targets. I was told my fastings needed to be under 100 and they have been but there usually vary in the 90's. Now, there not liking that number. But I'm still drug free. I'm just about 36 wks now so hopefully not to much longer. I admit I do cheat occasionally and have a treat. I think it's so cruel with all the crap we go through being pregnant that on top of it I can't have chocolate or ice-cream.........lol. I was told it really had nothing to do with "sweets" it's how all food is broken down. What sucks too is I have to eat protein 6 times a day. The amounts vary at each time. But, I only have one kidney that functions and because of that the past few years I've been told not to eat a lot of protein. A vegetarian diet is ideal for me. Although, I don't do that either. But, having to eat so much meat is making me gag. I can instead of meat eat cheese, eggs and peanuts but peanuts make my sugar higher and I can only eat so many eggs and cheese. I'm getting sick of those also not to mention I'd like to go to the bathroom occasionally.....lol. Anyway, thank God it's almost over. I've already told my fiance a million stops we gotta make on the way home from the hospital so I can load up on all the stuff I haven't been able to eat. I will gain 5 lbs after just from that......lol

I'm 9 weeks pregnant and have GD. My first pregnancy was normal, with the exception of pregnancy induced hypertension, but my second pregnancy I found out about 30 weeks that I had GD. I was able to control it with diet and things went well. When I found out I was pregnant this time, I decided to see a high risk specialist. My first visit, I did the 1 hr glucose test and failed. She gave me the option of taking the 3 hr or just begin to track my blood sugar. I chose to begin tracking. My numbers have just been awful and I've tried to be very strict with my diet. My fasting hasn't been below her cut-off of 90 yet. She's much more strict than my last doctor. Today she called me and mentioned insulin because the other medication options are proven to be safe in the first trimester. We're going to give it another week, skipping my evening snack. I'm frustrated. But we'll figure it out =)

Hi All! I'm a mom to a wonderful 2 year old boy. I was diagnosed with GD when I was 28 weeks pregnant with him. It was a huge shock but really shouldn't have been -- both of my parents are Type 2 diabetics so I'm pretty much guaranteed that same fate! I was able to control my GD with diet and my little man was delivered at 38 weeks weighing 7lbs, 10ozs. His glucose levels were low the first day but everything evened out by the next morning.
So glad to be a part of this group!

Hi, I'm Annette. I am pregnant with my 5th child, due in September.
I just found out I have gestational diabetes. I did a 1 hr glucose test 3 weeks ago. The results came back high. So my OB sent me for a 3 hr glucose test and the results were high again. Now he is referring me to a diabetes management person.
I don't remember being test for diabetes with my first pregnancy. I was test with my 2nd and was borderline diabetic. Tested with my 3rd but was fine and never tested with my 4th child. This time I am heavier then before and at my last OB appt I had only gained 1 lb. I told my OB that I was eating but just not gaining.
So that is when he sent me for the 1 hr glucose test..
Now I'm just waiting for this lady to call me and get started with a food plan.
I also have an OB appt next Thursday.
