one hour blood draws consistently low except for after HFCS which has me elevated and then crashing
So. When I drink the "trutol" test drink, my numbers are slighlty elevated. Which means that they want me doing the blood sugar monitoring across the day. I'm supposed to keep a food/number diary for a week and do one hour finger prick tests.
My finger prick tests are all showing in the 70's-90's with occasional readings as high as 121 if I ate a very large meal that contained something sweet. This is one hour after eating.
If I eat something with high fructose corn syrup.. Like a bowl of Raisin Bran, my one hour number is 150-162, and sometime before the 2 hour mark I start getting the shakes and feeling dizzy, I test and my number is in the 60's.
It seems that I'm sensitive to corn sugars such as HFCS and dextrose (which Trutol is sweetened with). No other sugar seems to have any odd/lasting effect on my blood sugar readings.
Anyone else have this experience?
I can't seem to get a straight answer as to if this is GD or not.
Because I can eat two baked potatoes, drink 8oz of cranberry juice, eat a slice of pizza and some ice cream and have perfectly acceptable blood sugar numbers, some care providers say that I do not have GD.
But because my numbers ARE elevated after I eat corn sugars, some care providers say that I do have GD.
Even when I'm not pregnant, I avoid corn sugars because they make my blood sugar levels rise/crash.
If you only react to one type of sugar, is it still considered GD?
