Ok so I saw the endo last week. He put me on a 2k calorie diet. I have had good success with the post meals....with the exception today where my 1hr was 144 breakfast and my 2 hr lunch was 127. So I am hoping it's just today and goes back to normal tomorrow, because I just started insulin last night for my fasting's. Three days of high numbers.

How long after you started insulin did you see a great reduction in your #'s? My dh did my injection and some was on the needle so I don't think he got the whole 4 units in last night.  I am on the slow release pen.

Where is the best place to inject? I found a chunky fat area on back of thigh, so he did it there, actually did not hurt at all, maybe a slight pinch, the finger was definitely worse!!! I am just wondering bc if I have to start the before meals one eventually, seeing as today was elevated, I want to alternate around...and then I will have to do it myself, eek, I would rather my hubby do it for me....always!!!

I started seeing a change the first time I started using the insulin. I take it befire breakfast, before dinner and before bed. My fasting number has to be below 95 and everthing after that has to be under 144. I can tell you that I do still have numbers that are higher then they should be but nowhere near as much as they were. If u have to be at 140 I wouldnt worry to much about 144..I inject either in my tummy or top of thigh.

I used to do night insulin with slow release and started at 4 units. The results should be within a couple of days, they will keep on raising the dosage till it's acceptable. I got up to 20 units. I use to put it around my belly bottom, which some say is not a great idea since it is more sebsitive during pregnancy, but it didn't hurt there for me at all, unlike other laces. Good luck!

It worked for me pretty quickly. Just keep checking your #'s and if they are still staying high call your doc or nurse and he/she may need you to up your dosage. I had to keep upping my dose throughout my pregnancy (especially towards the end).

Also, they showed me to inject it near the bottom of my tummy (where you may have some extra cushion/fat from the baby). I would rotate around like a clock. 12.3.6.9. I was sooo nervous to do it myself, but I got used to it eventually. Plus I found my hubby injected it to quickly and it would sting a bit.
