I go to the diabetic center on thurs of this week but I was wondering if maybe I am doing something wrong. My fasting blood sugars are still high. I really want to avoid going on insulin if I can. My mealtime numbers have been good only two high numbers since last wed.
My fasting blood sugars since last wed. have been
night time snacks
86 granola bar
121 (don't remember what I had forgot to write it down)
99 apple/peanuts/milk (apple was after i checked my sugars after supper since i was still hungry then had a snack around 9)
90 granola bar 92 one oreo (i was craving it LOL) and peanuts
97 peanuts/milk
115 I know most are ok but it has to below 95. My snacks at night are mostly peanuts and milk, apples, just peanuts
I have a hard time eating snacks. I am not much of a snacker and am not usually hungry enough to eat too much for my snacks

Hmmmm seems like that should be OK...hate to say it but sometimes you just NEED medication. Try not to get down about it, it's not your fault at all and if medication is what you need, just be glad that you're able to do that for your baby. Maybe your dietician can get it figured out for you, I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you!
Your nutritionist may just have to tweak your diet plan a little more - you probably won't have to do insulin.....your numbers don't seem too outrageous.
My numbers were really high and I'm on insulin now. It's helping so much, my numbers are down in the normal range now. Trust me I did not want to be on insulin, but I feel so much better now knowing my baby is gonna be ok. And honest to God, it doesn't hurt like you think it will. (injecting the insulin) The finger pricks from blood testing hurt more. It's just scarier because it's an actual needle that you hold and can see.
They had me learn hands on at the hospital with the syringe. I was so scared, but when I actually injected the needle, I was like, "Oh, that's it?" the nurse laughed and said that everyone is the same way - that it's scary until you do it.
OMG! what...where's your protein and vege?? GD means to eat healthy, NOT starve yourself!! What the hell did your diatition tell you?!?
protein source: cheese (low fat), eggs, beef, chicken, fish, avacados, soy milk (don't over dose, too much changes your hormone chemistry), yogurt (lightly sweetened, best plain kind)
fiber: low GI fruits(under 55)http://www.diabetesnet.com/diabetes_food_diet/glycemic_index.php#axzz13mEjQkZ9; vege, whole wheat, whole pasta.
dessert: fruit and NO artificial sweeteners, they have been associated w/ tons of problems on the baby.
