I am pleased to announce that Myron Anthony aka Mak has arrived. He was born 20" long weighing 7lb 10oz at 7:26PM Friday August 7. Here is his story:
As many of you know, I was diagnosed as having GD with Mak and my OB insisted on 2x weekly NST starting at 32 weeks. On Friday, I went into the dr at 10:30 for my regular NST. The office was packed and all the office NST machines were in use so the dr sent me over to the hospital to be monitored. Going to the hospital was not unusual for us because Mak failed his NST at the dr at least once a week and we would have to go to the hospital for extended monitoring anyway. On Friday, I figured well, if we start at the hospital maybe it will cut an hour or two off the visit. I got checked in and hooked to the monitors at about 11:00. At 12:00 when he had failed to show normal variances (which was always the issue) the dr called over and ordered an US to check on him. When I returned to L&D, Mak's heartrate dropped to 90bpm. It returned to normal after just a few minutes but by then the dr had already decided that with his history of failed NST and us being 38w 4d it wasn't worth the risk to wait any longer. My csection was scheduled to begin at 6:00. The anesticologist was delayed in another surgery so he arrived at about 6:15 and I was taking to the OR for my spinal and to be prepped. At 6:45 when after several attempts had been made he still could not place the spinal, he decided to put me to sleep for the procedure. Mak was delivered at 7:26. He was breech and had a true knot in his umbilical cord. The drop in his heartrate was probably caused when he flipped over because he was not breech on the US. The dr said there were calusses on the cord so she felt that he had had the knot for at least 3-4 weeks which would explain why he kept failing his NST. Fortunately, he is perfect and healthy. His sisters adore him! I will post pics as soon as I get the camera unloaded from the car.

Congrats wow what a surprising day for you! Was his weight on target with what they were telling you it would be? Also were you on medication for the diabetes? I am wondering if his lungs were developed. Congrats again can't wait to see the pictures!
First time mom due in August.
