It seems that my kids are always hungry between 3:30 and 4:00 pm, I do dinner at 6:00pm, so half the time they are full from their snacks. So what kind of snack's do you ladies do? I was thinking snack at 3:30 and I can push off dinner until 6:30?

I've been doing celery and PB, Carrots and Ranch, Green apples, Oranges, Cheezits, and Grahm Crackers, they get to pick one of those

i have the same problem - fill up on the snack (no matter how healthy it is) then dinner i get the.......I'M SOOOOO FULL!!!!!!!

i try to make sure there is NO FOOD AT ALL for at least and hour before a meal. and make the snack they have a lighter one that isn't sooo filling.  - I think the fruit and veggies are a good idea......maybe leave out the protien .....the PB and the cheese- that might be what is cause the fullness!

Can you maybe limit the amount they get?  I personally think 6:30 is too late for dinner if you have kids in school.

We usually get the hungries here too about that time and they get a banana, apple, orange, goldfish, wheat crackers, or whatever raw vegetable we have on hand to eat.   They do not get more than the normal serving size (I count out the crackers, etc) and sometimes they get less, depending on how soon dinner will be.  We typically eat between 5-5:45 depending how late my dh works.  I also do not allow them to eat after 4:15.  Come to me at 4:30 for a snack and you need to wait until supper or else they won't eat.

Hope that helps a little bit :)

My kids are usually hungry then as well, they never seem to eat much at school.  If I don't give them something substantial then (around 4ish) then homework is a nightmare.

I know most people will not agree with me, but I find it works well for us when I feed the kids their dinner early, then DH and I eat later around 6pm.  The kids usually join us for a small meal when we eat our dinner.  Everyone is more relaxed that way.

See and I was doing dinner at 5:30 every night, but than at bedtime they were hungry again. So Im going to go back to doing dinner at 5:30 (which means we wont have a family dinner anymore, hubby is at work at that point), but than I can give them a bedtime snack.

Snack is usually some fresh veggies, fruit, nuts, or crackers and cheese!
