BRIBERY

I AM SOOOOOOO GUILTY of this!!!!

My mom called me out today (I kept my mouth shut.....I'll reserve my comment of this coming from a woman who told me Soy Sauce was Monkey pee for a later date).

It was at lunch time and I told my son that I would get him a present if he would finish eating his lunch.......(I always get him stuff anyway especially when we go shopping in St Augustine so why shouldn't I get something out of it right? LOL)

I also bribed him with presents when we were potty training.....we had a bit of drama with pooping after his daddy made a fuss over how stinky it was...took him a year before he would poop in his potty. My son is pretty good and I do keep it in check....I mean it got pretty bad when we would go to a store and my son would say ...'Ooooo, I poop & pee in my potty for that!'.....I haven't given him a potty gift in a LONG time.

Sooooooo, are you guilty of bribery??? What have you bribed your child to do lately and for what?

I do sometimes, but not that often

In general we did not do bribery. I did find that my son ate his meal better if he knew there was a roll that he could have afterward. I would set a basket of rolls on the table.

I do to some extent but save it for when I really need it.  We used jelly beans for potty training.

I think its hard not to do it, since my son is only 1, i really havent had to bribe him with anything.

LORD I TRY NOT TO. I can't remember the last time I had to, but if I need them to be still somewhere, like a doc appt of MINE, I'll take them each a sugar free sucker. Boy do they think it's a big deal LOL!

I bribed my DD to potty train with Hershey's Kisses.  I bribed her to sit still for the hearing test with Spree's candy.

I wanted to be one of those moms who wouldn't do that, but you know what?  You do what you have to.

Guilty as charged. Sometimes I just can't help myself. If I am having a rough day, especially with my 3 y/o, I find that I need to turn it around and one of the ways for me to do this is to "bribe" them.

My oldest was having a bad week or two at school. Talking all the time, playing the bathroom, etc. He was not coming home on green (they have a color chart at school to rate their behavior during the day). So, I decided to give him some incentive. Get on green all week and I'll take you to breakfast at Dunkin' Donuts. Well, green all last week, and all this week so far (we go tomorrow). Sometimes it is just what I need to do.

 I am very guilty.....

With my sons it was potty training. They couldn't have backpacks or belts until they were potty trained. On ocassion I bribe my 10 yr. old to keep his behavior in check. It's simple with him I offer him a soccer ball and 9 times out of 10 I need to buy one anyway... lol
