I had to take my son to the hospital last Wednesday because he got hurt during p.e. There was an 11 year old girl there as well who ingested a lithium(sp?) pill that was in her pre- packaged muffin at school. The pill was identified thru poison control. The school never called 911 and made the girl take her FCAT test. When the parents were contacted they had to leave a message but they never told the parents that it was an emergency.
This scares the crap outta me. The parents never found out until the girl got home. The school told them that they felt that she was fine.
Now we can't even trust schools?
EEEEK lol. There's obviously always risk with prepackaged stuff, but it is worriesome.
Wow, I would be one totally upset parent and the school would get an earful.
There was poison in a prepackaged muffin? I'd say an investigation into the source of the muffins, and if it is an inferior company that then yes it would be a worry about letting the child eat that food.
This might be a long shot, but I am all for this being whats up... it sounds like whoever packaged those muffins put that pill in there on purpose. For one, how the hell does a lithium pill even MAKE it into a factory where food is managed? And if someone there did have pills with them, they shouldn't be opening the bottle over food for children.
I would think right away that wherever the food came from, someone was definitely up to something and did that on purpose. I would recommend an investigation for sure. Thats not right.
Yes, something is wrong at the plant.

I agree something is not right at the plant.
What are the symptons after ingesting one of these pills?
I thought if a child got sick at school, the school was required to call parents, and especially contact them when a child has to be rushed to the ER.
My son had a tickle in his throat and was coughing, than had one deep cough cause it was still bothering him, and his breakfast came up. He was sent to the nurse and she called and said their policy said he would have to go home, even if he was not sick.
