FOOD!

My thing is to not even bring junk food (over processed/sugar/etc..) into the house. Unfortunately my hubby does...so my best defense is to make sure that I stalk my frig with lots of  fruit  & veggies...(on the premise ~ if you have it they will eat it...lol)
So far I've been VERY LUCKY that my kid will eat cucumber & radish slices like potato chips! And when we eat out....I always try to get the restaurant to substitute french fries with a veggie...not all restaurants even have a REAL VEGGIE (corn is a starch like potato)so I only allow for him to a couple fries then I try to make sure he has fruit or veggie when we get home.

**Tonight was a preview of a new show called Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution (He had a series in England called the Naked Chef)
It's suppose to be on again for 2 hours on Friday ABC network.....please check it out....you might be surprised.

Darn, I forgot about that show. I wanted to watch it! ARGH! I will try to remember to watch it on Friday. Must write myself a note!

My DH loves snacks and we always have many in the house. But, I, like you, make sure there are other things in the house that are healthy for them to eat and offer those to them. I don't allow junk before a certain time and then it's a just a bit if I do. I am hoping to give them the right choices and that they will like those and choose them.

my biggest challenge is that my son needs a bland diet, so "healthy" foods don't taste very good.

My children inherited my sweet tooth, so when they were at functions where they could get as many sweets as they wanted, they'd pile their plates high.

I don't have many. I'm the same way about junk food in the house, I just avoid it. It'seasier to have good food liek fruit accessible. The kids LOVE Subway lol. That's our eating out!

I can relate to that. While we eat well daily, my 3 yo CRAVES sweets and is so excited if there's a b-day party. CAKE!!!

My oldest is a challenge with veggies. He just does not want to eat them. I put them on his plate and he snubs them. I only put two green beans on there and tell him he must at least eat those two if nothing else. He eats them, but always gags. My DH does not eat veggies and I fear that my oldest sees this and does not think anything of not eating veggies. I want him to like them, but I have tried many ways and it just doesn't seem to work. My 3 y/o, on the other hand, will eat any veggie you put in front of him!

I spoke with the social worker where I work yesterday and he said the show was amazing and extremely eye opening. I am looking forward to the episode on Friday night.
