Sometimes children will express an interest in something that we hadn't thought that they might enjoy.
My younger son mentioned that he'd like to try violin. He said this two or three times over a month or so before it sank in to me that I needed to listen and to find a violin teacher. As it turns out, he lost interest. I make him continue for a year, and then we let it go. But I am glad that I listened to him. He might have had a special skill with violin that would have gone un-nurtured.
My 13 year old wants to play golf. He has always wanted to play baseball and football. The last 2 years he has really sparked an interest in golf. He has always wanted to play it sort of but these last 2 years he has been playing that instead of football, for the school.
What brought this question to mind was that I was watching a show with my 5 year old granddaughter yesterday, and when the dancers came on she was enthralled. She hopped up and tried to do the entire dance with them. I asked her mother about the dancing, and she said that yes she was arranging for dance class in the Fall.
It is a good question, and one that won't start drama. I like it.

I remember with my first boy that I was startled when he grabbed a matchbox car that someone had brought him and wouldn't let it go. This is when I learned that he found cars fascinating. He was about age 1.
not quite, but she did tell me she wants to be a marine like her uncle dj when she grow up. and then be a chef, teacher and step mom.
Mine wanted to be a veterinarian and live in a moble home with a parrot. None of these happened.
