Do you and your mom have similar parenting styles?

Hi ladies,

Do you have a similar parenting style to your mom's? How does your parenting style differ?

 unfortunatly i have similarities of parenting as my mother.. because of my bipolar and add i tend to yell/raise my voice alot when i really dont mean to, i dont notice it until someone tells me.. I also am i geuss you'd say too protective? I wont let my bf's son run in the house, eat in his room ever after all the trash and crums weve found which his dad dont let him either but he will mostly give in and let him do it.. I also wont let him do anything that he's lied to me about before or that he's done more than 3 times and it was bad or he wasnt listening so i figure to learn his lesson we dont let him do those things until he's old enough to understand/listen. i know im a bit harsh but im working on it as fast as i can and ive gotten alot better! theres one big thing my mother and i differ on and thats she physically and mentaly abused me which is something I have NEVER done and will NEVER do to my bf's son or the one were about to have.. which is why i stopped talking to her. it feels good to cut that drama outa my life but.. now i have no family left to talk to or go to.. i geuss its for the best tho.

Yes and no. 

I am not as strict as my dad was. My mother was the

more passive, yet open parent. I am not passive, but I have a very

deep empathy for my kids so its a little complicated!

On some things yes but on others no.  I don't spank.  I don't make my kids eat foods they hate.  I do make them complete things they started just like my mom did.

I way more relaxed than my mom was with me and is with him. I am not a helocoptor parent! I have read research about relaxed parenting and it is recognized as being successful.

Completely different! When I get pushed to my limits I don't toss my child off on someone else and then want her back a month later. I use her to calm down instead, even if it's her driving me crazy haha.

No, very different.  I would never be like my mom.

pretty close to the same..

dinners are different than how my mom parented... my mom was very lax about what we ate.. I'm strict because I want them to eat healthy... and not grow up picky eaters etc.

and I'm more up and up on certain things girl related.. my mom was more of a tom boy and never knew how to style hair (beyond a pony tail or brushing the knots out), or dress a girl really.. she's changed a lot since I've grown up, got more "girly" lol.. but yeah, in that I'm different, than her, I'm not over the top like some moms, but my kids look good when they leave the house!
