My father used to wake up at five in the morning to get the grill ready for the pork and beef ribs, hot links, chicken, and hot dogs. My mother would fix potato salad and butter cake the night before. No matter how much we struggled during the rest of the year, God blessed us with enough to have holiday food.

 i remember the family BBQs

We would always go to a big celebration at the fairgrounds where there were booths of all sorts, a rodeo and after dark fireworks.  It was so fun because it was the only time we were able to stay up late and go to bed without brushing our teeth, lol.

Not really.  My family really didn't celebrate holidays when I was a child.  But we do now, I love doing holiday things with my kids!

 We had approximately 30 people over and I was a bit drunk....there are parts of my night I really don't remember, LOL!  We had friends and neighbors over....it was a good night!!
