My Mom passed when I was 13. When I was 14, I made friends with a girl in summer school. As soon as I met her Mom, we clicked. She has been like my Mom for the last 34 years. =)
I know what you mean. My parents were abusive. When I was in my late teens, I worked with a woman who had 2 young teen boys. We became best friends. Here and her husband said I was the daughter they never had. My kids call them grandmom & Pop.
husband, good friend KM, and...um...my friend AH because she had the guts to move out of state and start her life :) I wish I'd done that when I was younger and childless.
