Make changes.

Of course, we don’t have the same routine today that we did eight years ago when we began our first school year. We don’t even have the same one we did last year. As our needs have changed, so has our routine in order to meet those needs. We might also discover that our plan isn’t working as well as we’d hoped, at which point it makes sense to adapt. Remember that the routine is a tool for you to use, not something that should control your family. Be the boss of your routine, not a slave to it.

I'm sure a lot of things will change next year when DD goes to all-day kindergarten. That will be strange, yet liberating, for me.

It should be easier next year.  The kids will be in school all day and like RobynS said, it will be strange but liberating.

Yep, in first grade she is doing much more for herself.

I really don't have a routine for my first grader and I'm so guilty of "doing" everything for DS6. I really need to start promoting self care.
