"Coffee will stunt your growth"

This six-feet-tall writer is living proof of the falsity of the claim that java will leave you short of your maximum height. The myth probably began because smoking does indeed stunt growth, and in all the discussions of harmful substances, caffeine mistakenly fell into the same category. In fact, caffeine is used medicinally to treat premature infants. "My kids are crazy enough without a caffeine jolt, but you can't say it has long-term effects on growth," says Jennings.

Were you told coffee would stunt your growth when you were younger?

When I was a little kid they use  to say that however tall you are at 2 yrs old - double it and that is how tall you will be as an adult. I was exactly 3 feet tall at  2 yrs old. So dr told my parents I would be 6ft. At 13 I was 5 ft 9inches but I started drinking coffee at 10 AND smoking cigarettes at 10  (quit smoking at 17) both of which I was told would stunt my growth ... I am 46 and still 5ft 9 so I dont know if it actually stunted my growth or not . I was never worried about it though, 5'9 is fairly tall anyway.
