for 2 loaves:
- 1 c. water
- 2 1/2 c. bread flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. active dry yeast
Place dough ingredients in pan in order listed. Use the dough setting and press start. When setting is complete, remove dough from bread pan. Place in a well-greased bowl, turning to coat evenly. Cover and let rise in warm, draft-free place 30 minutes or until doubled in size. Punch dough down and turn out onto lightly floured surface.
Roll dough into 12 x 16 inch rectangles. Divide dough into 2 12 x 8 inch pieces. Roll up tightly, jelly-roll style, starting at the 12 inch side. Shape into 12 inch long loaves. Place 3 inches apart on greased baking sheet. With a sharp knife, make 3 to 4 diagonal slashes across each loaf top. cover and let rise in warm, draft-free plce, 30 to 40 minutes. Brush tops with an egg wash of 1 egg yolk and 1 Tbsp. water whisked together. Bake in 375 degree oven for 20 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
