My son is 6 and I'm looking into summer programs with our city parks & rec dept. They have a lot of fun activities and one I know he'd enjoy is a week long "camp" during the day, they do sports and activities and swimming & it's from 8-5 every day for a week (or all summer, depending on what you want to pay for).
I know the instructors are certified life guards and have all the proper training but they're just teenagers so I'm not sure I feel comfortable enough to send him, they're supposed to have so many "adults" per child but last year at the summer lessons they had groups there and I think that's what makes me more nervous.
Do you think 6 is too young to be gone all day or am I being overprotective? Also, he'll be in with a mixed-age group of kids, the camps are for ages 6-12, not sure how I feel about it. What would you do? How would you feel? Any input appreciated.
