Are you looking for things that are yellow then? Or back to school related?
You could always make a version of a ruler and have them color it yellow....then go around and measure random things. It doesnt even have to be inches just mark evenly spaced lines and measure as "units" or something along the lines of that.
For a yellow animal you could do a canary maybe...like the canary chirping means its time to get up for the school day.
