Eighty something percent of latinos...

Ok chicas to some this may be a hot topic but please no bashing and it's a simple question.

Last week in the Tyra show they had a show about spanking. They said that 80 something percent of Latinos agree to spank. I cant remember the exact number and if you watched the show please let me know lol

So as a Latina did you get spanked by your parents and do you agree or dissagree with spanking.

I'm talking spanking here ladies not a beating that is a BIG difference ok chicas

I got spanked a handful of times over my whole childhood. My brother got a lot more and that was not right. I'd say if it's more than a couple of times a year, you're not using other discipline measures appropriately.

I got spanked as a kid. I occasionally spank my dd, more like a swat on the hand when she absolutely won't listen or she's doing something where she could get hurt and won't stop.  To be honest though, time outs and taking away a toy or tv time works better for us.

I was spanked as a kid too cause I was super traviesa! they called me veneno cause I was always getting into something I wasn't supposed to.

I have spanked my DD's a couple of times and its a swat on the behind but like you sophiesmom taking away stuff works better for me too and time outs. Taking away the wii is torture so I just tell them do you want to be grounded from the wii for a month again and they straighten up so fast.

 i'm all for discipline.. i hardly got as a kid.. mom always had this look she gave us.. scared us to death.. she never had to raise her voice, or pick up her hand.. now as my older half brother got older, teenage years mostly, i recall a few whoopings and other scare tactics used for him.. never me and my sister..

I got spanked a few times when I was little. And I agree with spanking. When all else fails or if he did something very very bad like when he crossed the street without me oh beleive me he'll get a spanking. And I dont crae what everyone else thinks, he's MY son and I know what's best for him :)

 I too got spanked but not alot maybe a few times. Im not much for spanking but its just cuz i dont really need to...Im more of a angry stare LOL or a quick pinch. I think that sometimes parents are wayyy to leanient on their kids and the kids walk all over them so i beleive spank when needed. But you should also be able to talk to you kids and let them know what they did was wrong before the spank

I do agree to spankings only in extreme situations, not as a first and only form of discipline. I agree to what most of you are saying about parents who let their kids walk all over them... Then those kids grow up and are troubled teens and the parents wonder "what did I do wrong..." I can give you a list in alphabetical order on what went wrong with that type of walk all over me parenting.

hmm this is hard for me because growing up with my grandparents I never really got spanked... with my mom (the latina) she beat the mess out of me.. different from spanking and her ex husband use to spank us but not in a way that I would spank my kids.

I am ok with spanking as long as it is done correctly.. though I am leaning more and more to not using spanking...
