Dentist visit

So I took my son to the dentist and they said he has several cavities. He has never complained of his teeth hurting before. We only came for a routine check up/ cleaning. I had taken him to another dentist when he was 3 and they said he had seven cavities. I then took him for a second opinion & he only had 2. So we are now waiting for the treatment plan and I must be honest this is a new dental office & I'm not to sure I believe them. We only came here because the other dentist moved to tucson.

Sorry to hear that. Maybe get a third opinion or just get it fixed.

He got fillings with the last two cavities. I just don't know if I truly believe he needs all this work done. Plus they were discussing amongst themselves on using silver to fill the cavaities (not on my child). Guess I was just venting. I'll be calling my friend as she herself is the dentist that moved to Tucson.

They could be minor little flaws in the teeth that can be fixed by being sealed. I just had that happen to one of my teeth a few months back.

My brother was just telling me that his daughter needs fillings too and his insurance only covers the silver filling. He would have to pay out of pocket if he wants the clear ones.

Ok first and foremost not all cavities hurt. So even if he had never complained they may still be there. The best way for cavities to be seen are in an xray or some are visible to the naked eye.

And are any if the places you are going to a chain type of dentist? Like cool smile, general dentistry, to name a few? those places are notorious for 1 over charging and 2 over exaggerating the need for procedures. wherever you go ask for a print out of the affected teeth and your xray. When you seek another option try to go to a regular family dentist and see if this last diagnosis matches the previous ones. It could be possible that the other Cavities could be solved with a simple clear coating rather than a filling. I have really bad teeth so I had all my top molars coated to prevent cavities, all my bottom molars have had at least one cavity each, some even 2 at a time so ask my bottom molars have filings.

The first one was at a chian like called Kid kazam. The second opinion was with my friend who works at the Indian Hospital (which was free to natives if you don't have have
dental coverage) we do have dental dental so while at the hospital they did the xrays and only saw 2. This new one I guess is a chain since it has several locations. I will definitely take your advice and fine a family dentist. Thank you

Make sure there are really cavities on his teeth.  My husband went to a dentist for the first time, a few years ago, and the dentist told him he needed all kinds of work.  For some lucky reason, his company switched dental insurance plans and he had to find another dentist.  The latter dentist told him his teeth were in optimal shape, and needed no work.  He didn't have a single cavity.  Beware of dishonest dentists.  You are right to be doubtful.

Ask them to point them out to you in the xray.. You can see the cavities in the xray.

I would say go for a third opinion on a family dentistry office, they might be trying to overcharge you, as for silver fillings that is not done for kids, they usually use simple (tooth color) filling. I'd be confused and not very trusting if I get two different diagnostics.

That is how I'm feeling. I don't know why they would use silver it only creates more cavaitives
