Anyone ever experienced a fractured nose? How long did it take for the pain to subside and for your fracture to heal?
I sustained several blows to my nose during my family vacation. I wish I could blame it on something exciting--like a bar brawl or sky diving--but it was all through mishaps with my DS. The last blow was the doozy: he asked me to help him pick something up while were were seated by each other--and then decided to fling himself backward while our heads were "overlapped" as we bent over. That meant his noggin slammed full force into my nose bridge. Game over.
I got checked by my doc upon our return this weekend and he made sure that there weren't problems internally (like hematoma). And then he advised me to start the waiting game--look for signs of it being crooked when swelling subsided (thankfully, swelling is starting to abate and my nose looks straight) or for problems with breathing, as congestion from my sinus infection lessens (thankfully, I don't seem to have breathing problems that would indicated a deviated septum).
But the pain in my nose is something awful. Even the light whisper of a make-up brush across my nose has me reeling. I can't believe it! I deal with the pain by taking 2 Advil, as instructed by my doc, but there are time (like now) when the throbbing is still annoying.
If anyone has some insights on this condition/issue, I'd love hearing them.
