Did experiencing a loss affect how many children you plan(ned) on having? Obviously we dont always get to decide family size, but did it change your desires?

Yes our loss affected how many children/pregnancies we were thinking of having.  We just lost our 3rd child but first daughter on May 3rd, 2012, she was going to be our last.  We originally just wanted 3 kids, well I wanted five and DH just wanted to try one last time (for our 3rd child) for a girl.  Because Isabelle passed our family doesn't feel complete and we feel like we need to try one last time.  We would like 3 living children but if our next pregnancy has a fatal birth defect like our daughter I have no idea what we will decide.  So right now I guess it all depends on how our next preganancy goes but I believe DH just wants 3 living kids for now.

Yes. My first son was a preemie, then I lost my second so both of those experiences made me rethink. Then we tried for our last..my daughter...it was a tough pregnancy with a few scares and I almost died after her delivery so we are definately done. I always thought I would have a big family..but 2 living children is what I have and I am at peace with that for the most part. And feel its best for me and my family.

Not really.  We have 5, and as we've gotten older, we kinda just feel like we want more.  We don't really have a set number, I guess?   Something happened when we had number 4, and having more just didn't seem out of the question anymore.

I always wanted 3, we have 2 children and tried for the 3rd and have had 2 miscarriages in 6 months.  We are going to take a break and mayb try one more time and be done after that either way.

I lost my first pregnancy, so we hadn't even begun our family. We had to build our family afterward--and we kept to our planned number. :-)

I've always wanted at least 3 but at the moment I just have my two.  Right now it's undecided if we're gonna try for a 3rd or not.

I was content with my 2 and pretty against havibg more. Then surprise preg that ended in m/c I wanted nothing more than a third. Took awhile, but had our third. After all that I felt kids were such a gift I almost want more. I dont know why. Was just curious if losses made others want more than planned. I dont know that we'll ever have more, im completely contentif dont, just for some reason feel we may want more.
