My DH is a physician, so I just took a peek in his drug book and Zoloft is a category C drug. Class A is safe established in human studies; class B is presumed safe in animal studies; class C is uncertain; class D is unsafe. If something is uncertain, I wouldn't chance it. Do you take it for depression or anxiety or both? You may want to ask your physician for a pregnancy safe drug such as a class A or B.
Im so sorry for your loss. If you feel like there may be complications with the meds its okay to maybe seek a 2nd opinion just to be sure or go talk to a local pharmacist to try and get peace of mind. Despression is serious and definitely should be treated but since you are TTC again its important that it also doesnt put that at risk. I hope you can get answers and have a healthy pregnancy soon! GL
All I can tell you about Zoloft is that I took it when I had ppd and I got a terrible rash all over and the depression got worse. I have also heard that it can cause birth defects I think they say things like cleft palate which would lead me to believe that zoloft doesn't allow you to absorb folic acid properly. I would see if there is something else you could take and maybe find a psychiatrist or psychologist or whatever who can prescribe something that is safe for pregnancy instead of asking the ob and if the ob insists you change meds find out why because it seems weird to me that they would want to make you take something that is not good for pregnancy.
