1 mom liked this

Last Tuesday(6/4) I went in for an u/s and the technician couldn't say for certain but she said she thinks she seen a gestational sac. When I got my hcg levels in from the Friday(5/31) before they were only at 357, I was retested this Friday(6/7) and they are now up to 6,193. Well today I went in for another u/s I got to see the sac and a flicker but the technician said she couldn't be sure it was the heartbeat. She tried to measure it and got 114-120bpm, she also told me she wasn't able to estimate my due date.

The technician last week told me my hcg needed to be higher than 1,000 to estimate due date and the lady today said I need to be over 10,000. I'm confused because from what I've read hcg levels are suppose to double every 2-3 days which should have put me over 10,000 by today's appointment. I am trying not to worry I really hope our bean sticks and is our rainbow baby we are hoping for.

Any info. or advice would be grateful thanks in advance ladies!

Yesterday I went in for another u/s and it is clear that my baby is growing, but the technician had an attitude and was very rude. I asked her how far along I measured and if the heartbeat was normal and all she said was "all my work will be generated into a report and sent to your doctor to review". That being the doctor that took a whole week just to get my hcg levels back to me.

Once I get DH's schedule I will be looking for an actual OBGYN but until then I must wait for this doctor to call me to find out any information. It is so frusterating dealing with someone who doesn't understand.

I finally got the news I've been waiting for. Our rainbow baby seems fine according to the last u/s our baby's heartbeat was 138bpm and measuring 6w6d I've done the math and my bundle of joy is due to arrive on Feb. 7th.

Thank you all for the help, support and kind words! I start seeing a new doctor next month and I'm really hoping for much better care there then I've been receiving.

I don't think you need to worry about the hcg levels at this time. I had read from other mom's who have posted saying that once you have reached 6,000 that the hcg levels don't double as quickly.

I did a little research and according to "Baby Med" (clickable link - http://www.babymed.com/hcg-level ) they confirmed my above statement (and others by other mom's) with the following:

- "Between 1,200 and 6,000 mIU/ml serum, the hCG usually takes 72-96 hours to double."

-"Above 6,000 mIU/ml, the hCG often takes over four days to double."

I hope this information helps ease your mind a little bit. Feel free to check out the website and read other hCG information posted there.

hang in there and don't worry.  Those numbers are not an exact science by any means.  (I am not on my home computer so I am quoting from memory) with my prior pregnancy at 5w5d my hcg was right over 5000 and doc said we would see a baby with a heartbeat, but US showed no baby and no fetal poll so she prepared me for a blighted ovum.  At the follow up US at 6w6d there was the baby measuring perfect to the day and with a hb with only 100 and the US tech said that meant it had only started beating a day or so before (which doesn't follow the normal pattern).  Baby grew on schedule after that.  This pregnancy at 5w3d this baby had a heartbeat and was measuring only 5w1d and my hcg was only around 5000.  So its not "set in stone".  GL and keep us posted

Thank you ladies! I really appreciate the help, I go back in to see my doctor on Friday. It's so hard not to worry since my miscarriage.

Keep us posted. I think your numbers sound quite hopeful! It aldi sounds like yu ate early, the heart probably has only been beating a few days... Which is why it seems low... But that's normal too!

Not cool about the tech, the tech's I've worked with have been nice and provided estimates. I hope that your new actualy OBGYN is better, when you find them.

Growth is good- were you able to see the hb or was the tech that much of a pain? I think they avoid giving answers in case they are wrong. When will the doc call? I would be calling them tmrw in the morning- tears work, use them!!! I hope you get quick answers good luck!

Thanks! Unfortunately I wasn't able to see anything because there is only 1 screen and she had it faced away from me the whole time. I was able to see the screen for a split second then she printed me a picture to take home but there was no information on it. I will most likely be calling the doctor starting Monday and if I'm lucky I will hear back from them before the week ends. I was recommended to this doctor by my actual obgyn till my insurance came through and it just takes so long to get answers from them. I have had an anxiety attack while on the phone with them before and it still took me a couple of days to get answers.

I really hate when u/s techs act like that. I was 16 weeks when I lost my baby. My own doctor in the u/s room... I said, I don't see a heartbeat, he said "well, I'm not very good at this" walked out. The nurse then tells me I have to go to the hospital. The u/s tech is doing the scan, isn't saying a word....I said, "is there a heartbeat?" She says, "well, since you asked me I will tell you, no, there isn't." I mean seriously, just say what you see, what's the big secret, ya know?! I am sorry you are going through that :(
