PLEASE REMEMBER THIS THREAD IS A DISCUSSION ONLY ABOUT Sized PUL Covers, FOR OTHER KINDS PLEASE VISIT THE OTHER FAVORITE THREADS. THANKS

This post if for what cloth diapering mamas most and least favorite brands of Sized (not one sizes) PUL Covers.

So what's your personal most and least favorite brand(s) of Sized PUL Covers?

PUL Cloth Diaper Cover- A diaper cover made of polyurethane laminate (PUL). Polyurethane laminated (PUL) fabric is a rather technical term for the thin, shiny, waterproof cloth that makes up the outer layer of many washable diapers. A diaper cover is a separate, waterproof layer that goes on top of a cloth diaper. It prevents leaks and protects your baby's clothes from moisture.

I have an old Bumkins cover that is the older version. It has VERY funny FOlaundry tabs that make it nearly imposable to fasten the diaper to wear and not wash. I HATE this cover. It also has a very narrow crotch and lower rise so it is very hard to wear anything with it except a very trim thin fitted or a very trim folded receiving blanket. I got it used in a trade and it had been died with koolaid. The first several times I washed it it turned all my prefolds pink (this was almost a year ago and the prefolds are not longer pink) SOOO...I don't reccomend the old style bumkins and expecially if they are koolaid died.

LOL - that is too funny!  Thanks - with the day I've had, I've needed a good laugh!

My favorite is the Thirsties Diaper Covers.  They fit nicely, are sized appropriately and haven't had any issues with them - we started w/ a medium when our DD was like 16 lbs thinking it's only 2 lbs away, it should work, but we did have to go with the small because it really was just too big for her.  But when she was 18-19 lbs is when she was out of the small and into the medium.  So seems like the sizes are right on.

Also have enjoyed the Bummis SWW - however, prefer the leg gussets w/ the Thirsties.  The Green Earth PUL Cover has also worked well for us, the only downfall is it doesn't have the cross over tab to be able to make it tighter.  I personally don't like the Prorap - the only time it works for our DD is if we have a fitted on her - with Prefolds, it just doesn't fit right, maybe because she is a skinny baby.

I love my prorap velcro covers they work great and hold up well! The ones I have are just the basic white but if you spend a little more you can also get them in prints. MY baby is almost 2 and my 2nd child to use them they are still fully functional and would work at least for one more child! They work well with any prefold, any fitted or I imgine any kind of diaper that would need a cover.

I love my Proraps and the newer Bumkins. I wasn't a huge fan of Thirsties, but we trifold and they were just too big in the bum area

I used to use Proraps for my first son because that's what the diaper service sells....I liked them at the time because I didn't know there were other options; they took a long time to dry, and pretty often the tops of his pants would get wet....he was potty trained by the time he turned 2, and the  velcro tabs didn't make it to that age; I had to sew and re sew them on twice....I kept them and tried using them for my second son, but the velcro just wasn't strong enough.

Now I use Bumkins covers (the newer ones) and I love them! The velcro is so much stronger, it dries a lot faster, they have a layer that covers the top of the diaper in the front and an air vent feature in the back. Never have any leaks with those, except sometimes at night, so I have to put two dipes inside the cover....heavy wetter.

I really like my Thirsties. However, my boys have outgrown the mediums and the larges are absolutely huge. Great for night time diapering though.

We use the Thirsties Duo Wraps.  They are ok.  when used properly, they are very good against leaks.  However, we have found that the plastic snaps they use to adjust the sizing are pretty bad.  they were fine for the first couple of months, but now they barely stay snapped. Conceptually I like them, but in reality they ae annoying because every time I change a diaper, the snaps pop open and I have to get them closed again.  I do like the extra gussets on the legs though.  And I really liked the regualr thirsties.

Also have just tried the Econobum cover and they are pretty great, however they also have the plastic snaps so we will see how llong they hold up.
