Hospitalization?

So every time I am asked this by a mental health professional it catches me off guard. Every time they ask have you been hospitalized in the past year for mental health reasons I always wonder what types of things land someone in the hospital for mental health reasons. I know the obvious one is attempted suicide or attempting to harm yourself or someone else. But what other things would put someone in the hospital? Sorry just really curious.

I spent 8 days inpatient for panic attacks-I had been to the ER one too many times(for me)w/shortness of breath/chest pain where all tests came back normal.

I've been in for bipolar-mixed episodes with psychosis, extreme depression where i wasn't even speaking, suicide attempts, mania.
