A friend of mine suggested I write something from the perspective of a child with a mother who has a mental illness, this is what I came up with, please give me your honest feedback, thanks!

Why does mommy cry sometimes?
I hate to see her sad
Is she angry, did I do something to make her mad?
All I want is to love her
To please her the only way I know how
A kiss, a hug, but why does she sometimes turn away?
I know that she loves me
I see it in her eyes
But I know that when
I'm not around
She opens up and cries
I know she thinks that I don't see
That I don't really know, but I do
So I'll offer her a tiny flower in a vase just my size
She'll look at it from time to time
As she dries her eyes
For even though I'm still little
I understand her pain
And that it's not her fault
But God's will
Because everyone is born different
And some like my mommy have too many feelings inside

I really liked it. I know that from watching my kids and sitting here reading that and remembering much of what is there is true.

Thank you for sharing.

Ok...I need tissues !!!!  I get so upset at myself for letting my DS see me crying or being snappy with him. This is a beautiful poem that really hits home. Thanks for sharing

Omg, that made me cry. That is beautiful, and I feel like that was written by my boys.
