Worry or Not??

Ok, here's the question I really hope someone can advise me on...about a month ago I felt this knot (or lump) under my right armpit, it's kind of sore when touched but other than that it doesn't hurt. I did ask my Doc about it and they done bloodwork and an ultrasound, the ultrasound did not show anything but my labs showed high levels of white blood cells. I've done the antibiotics and steroids but it's all the same. I'm almost scared to even call for another appointment....

if your doctor did all the tests and think it's all ok i would relax.  get a second opinion to set your mind at ease.  good luck

I would definitely get a second opinion.  Have you had a mammogram?  Do not put it off if you haven't had one yet.  I do not want to scare you, but I've had too many friends who have had or have been affected by breast cancer.  Sometimes it can be just a cyst and can be drained.  Any time there is a change on any part of our bodies it becomes scary.  It's the natural reaction, but take a deep breath and think positively.  Insist on getting to the bottom of it and see as many doctors as possible to set your mind at ease.  Good luck; I will keep you in my prayers.

I've had sweat glands clog up under my arm pits before, but they just kind of went away on their own. If it was a lump that stayed around, I'd definitely have it checked out.

I had a cyst on the side of by breast from the way I carried my backpack all through school and college. I was terrfied when I felt it but the doc dx'd it as a cyst and it went away on its own.

Don't be scared and FOLLOW UP with your doctor. He did the initial tests and a prudent first line of treatment. Go back and see him and take it from there. If antibiotics and steroids didn't work, he'll go to plan B. ASK what he thinks this is and what he plans on doing next. ASK if you need a referral to a specialist. Sounds like a swollen lymph node, you need to know WHY it's swollen.

NOPE! get a biopsy....said i was fine...then had to have a 4 cm tumor removed....

get the biopsy now... i waited cause they said it looked fine, but i just had a gut feeling and called them earlier, I knew the minute the radiologist stuck the needle in by her face...

i had an infection( high white blood count) and then I think the infection did something to latent pre cancer cells and made them cancerous.....dragnet R.N.

It could be a lot of benign things but you can never go wrong w/ a second opinion and it would put your mind at ease and if it's something malignant, you would be increasing your chances of catching it early.
