Let's get real for a moment.

No one, and I mean not a single damn person has the right to diminish your feelings. Mental illness is real. Unfortunately the general public is GROSSLY uneducated about mental illness. Let's think about this...

It wasn't that long ago that lobotomy was a standard practice.

It wasn't that long ago mentally ill patients were treated like cattle...very barbaric and inhumane.

We have come a long way as a society but we have a ways to go.

Mentally illness does NOT, nor will it EVER, make you less of a person. We all have positives. We are all capable of love and being loved. We all have been BLESSED with the most amazing gift which would be our CHILD (REN).

Never, ever be afraid to reach out for support. Never be afraid to ask for help. We all have weak moments. That's why we have safe places such as this group. I have never encountered such amazing and compassionate women.

We have all faced our demons and probably will again. That's why I am here...to offer a nonjudgmental ear, honest words of encouragement, and all the love and support I can give.

Sorry for the rambling nature, but it hurts me to see someone suffering.

Mental illness is as much a chemical imbalance as diabetes.

I agree 100% with everything you said, except the cattle part.  I don't want to start a debate or anything, this isn't the place for that.  We live on a farm though, and our animals are treated with the utmost care.  Our kids were very active members of 4-H and FFA and we know many, many farm families that are the same.  I know, the bad ones are out there, but I know none of them.  That said, I do believe that mentally ill patients were treated barbarically.  Lobotomy and EST, seriously, I don't get it.
